.museum is a sTLD introduced in 2001 that was sponsored by the Museum Domain Management Association, an organization that was created by the International Council of Museums for the purpose of applying for the TLD through ICANN. The TLD is only available to institutions, organizations, and people that can be verified as being part of the Museum industry and community.
