[edit] Description
If you want to win an election, you can do it in two different ways. You can “shotgun” your campaign by throwing things out into the electorate to see what sticks and hope somebody will show up to vote for you. If you do that you can at least know that you wasted a lot of other people’s money and got your name in the paper a few times.
Your other option is to treat your campaign as a serious business that creates a machine that will show you:
- Where you are now
- Where you are going
- How you are doing
- How you will accomplish your objective
You need to take the guesswork out of your campaign. You need to know, by household, where your supporters are, how to reach them, how to keep them, and how to deliver them.
This groundwork use to be done by the local parties – not anymore.
Most political professionals and commentators agree that political parties used to perform these duties with great efficiency – that was in the past. Partisanship has declined over the past two decades and continues its slide. Where parties “formerly had a substantial presence in people’s lives and communities, they now exist at a distance.”
If you are standing around on Election Day and you don’t know who is going to vote for you or you're waiting for your local party to perform this chore, then you have already lost. Congratulations, you have turned the last year of your life into a crapshoot.
Capitol Strategies takes campaigns seriously. We are in the business of capturing, maintaining, persuading, and delivering voters. It’s something that you should think about. We are here to make sure your campaign isn’t reduced to a silly game of luck. There are voters out there that are hiding and they are the difference between winning and losing. If you know who they are, where they are, and that they will absolutely be there for you on Election Day then you are in real good shape. But if you don’t know, give us a call. We are in the business of winning, not guessing.
