Internet Society of South Africa was founded in 1997.

The Internet Society is a non-profit, non-governmental, membership organisation. The South African chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC-ZA) is inclusive and members represent a broad cross section of the Internet community in South Africa. ISOC-ZA is building the South African Internet society through policy, community and outreach activities.
