[edit] Conflict of Interest and Financial Transparency

Some individuals are concerned about conflict of interest and therefore have posted the following concern.

ICANN has never made public the full details of his compensation and benefits, nor of the expenses related to his keeping up an office in Australia. The full package is rumored to be substantially in excess of what the head of a non-profit standards organization would ordinarily be paid.

In my opinion, the content of this comment is good but the tone has an edge that implies shady behaviour. I'd like to see it be refactored to a less adversarial tone. Brandon 22:41, 2 Dec 2005 (EST)

One of Paul's greatest successes was persuading ICANN to take control of the .au domain away from the person chosen by Jon Postel and to give it to an ICANN-like Australian body created by the Australian government.

These seem like reasonable issues to discuss. The tone needs some heavy editing though. Whoever created these entries, please consider refactoring them to a neutral tone of voice. Another possibility would be to create a page Paul Twomey Controversies and link to a full discussion of the issues. It doesn't feel to me like the right thing to do here is to squelch these observations, nor does it seem appropriate to take such an adversarial tone. BrandonCsSanders 22:48, 2 Dec 2005 (EST)
