It is tremendously satisfying to see the issue of IDNs taking frontstage. The IDN workshop generated a very positive response from the community which is yearning for more and and more diversity on the internet. The Indian presentation on wednesday morning on the complex indian languages and the initiatives taken in India to populate the internet with multilingual communities is a peep in to our efforts to make the internet an integral part of our lives. I am very happy to see the GAC communique say unequivocally that one country one script is not the best way to go about. Internet is like providing drinking water to people. How can we say only one community can drink water? In any case, all unicode compliant scripts can be accomodated in the root. The way things are shaping we have come a long way since Mar Del Plata, when we made a small presentation in the IDN working group. The future is bright.
