World Wide Web Consortium

The World Wide Web Consortium (or W3C) is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. The W3C is responsible for maintaining and developing the core standards and guidelines for the Web, including XML, HTML, CSS and RDF.

The W3C was formed in December 1994 and Tim Berners-Lee has been its Director since its inception.
