The TLD represents the word ʺ.ONLINEʺ in Chinese characters. .ONLINE will be globally commercialized to provide a competitive alternative to existing generic TLDs and to other new TLDs. The TLD will be run as a commercial venture for profit with a network of registrars and a low-cost platform for ongoing management. "[3]

On 08 September 2013, TLD REGISTRY LIMITED received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for . 在线 after passing the Initial Evaluation.[4]

Delegation and Availability

.在线 was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on January 2, 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[2]
