Mason Cole was previously the Vice President of Communications and Industry Relations for Oversee.net. He joined SnapNames, a subsidiary of Oversee, in 2001 and left in September, 2011.[1]

He is responsible for the company's public relations, operating division, it's relationship with ICANN, and handling matters with regulatory agencies and international governments.

Mason also directs the company’s intellectual property interests. He has successfully secured patents in the United States, Canada and China.

Cole is also the former Executive Committee Chair of the Registrar Stakeholder Group,[2] and a board member of the Internet Commerce Association. He is currently representing the Registrar Stakeholder Group on the GNSO.[3]

In a letter dated December 8th, 2011, Mason Cole, along with twenty-seven other domain name industry representatives, wrote to Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison to support ICANN's new gTLD program, in response to the Senate Hearings taking place on the same day. They supported ICANN's argument that the program would be innovative and economically beneficial, and noted that the program took a diverse group of international stakeholders years to develop.[4] The letter can be found here.

Work

Mason Cole was the editor and publisher of the the Domain Industry Analysis newsletter.

His previous experience includes marketing and public relations responsibilities in the financial services and technology industries. Prior to SnapNames, Mason was a partner at New Venture Communications, a boutique marketing agency in Portland, Oregon. Prior to that he was involved in mutual fund sales and marketing with American Century Investments and Liberty Financial.[5]

He has also worked as the Editor of Emerging Science and Technology at Forum Publications.[6]

He is a Board Member at InternetCommerce.org.[7]

Education

Mason studied at Drury University.[8]
