Russell is an IT consultant. He works with open source technology, especially Linux.[1]

Russell John has participated in and organised a variety of programs. He conducted a workshop on Linux for Home Users at East West University on April 8, 2007. He was the speaker at the BCS Computer Show 2006. His other participations include:

- Workshop at North South University on June 15, 2006.
- Lead instructor of a 5-day long Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training at Central Gono Bidyalaya, Sonargoan held on March 9 to March 13, 2006.[7]
Education
Russell is a computer science engineer and also holds certifications in CCNA and CompTia Linux+. Besides computer science, he is interested in photography and fine arts, and holds two diplomas in Fine Arts.[8]
