David Farrar is the Vice President of InternetNZ, the .nz ccTLD Manager, as well as the Director of .nz Registry Services, which runs the actual .nz registry. He was first elected to the InternetNZ council in 1998, and served as its Secretary from 2003 to 2005. He has been the Director of .nz Registry Services since 2002. He has a passion for issues such as Government control of the Internet, sensible internet-friendly legislation and regulations, a self regulating internet industry, provision of information over the internet, anti-spam initiatives etc.
