.locus is a Brand TLD being proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant is Locus Analytics LLC.[1]
The TLD failed its Initial Evaluation in June 2013 due to its responses to the financial questions in the application; it was eligible for extended evaluation (EE), and passed EE in January 2014.[2][3]

We intend to build a specialty top-level domain where each domain name will have a specific semantic meaning as part of a larger economic system. These domains will be community-based like many of the proposed domains. The difference is that Locus communities’ will all be semantically defined. We believe that these types of domains are what web 3.0 is all about and we intend to be a leader in that space. We believe that “. locus” we can have millions of domains."[4]
