New York times reported "Mahendra is everywhere" and he truly is, and he has been everywhere. Dr. Prof Balram K Mahendra is a man upon whom a complete book could be written, it is impossible to fit all into an article about his accomplishments. Humble beginnings over 55 years ago saw a single person organization with a hired bicycle and a baby typewriter grow to a multi-billion dollar, multidivisional business today.
The company began by providing clients engineering services, later moving into the manufacturing sector. Company opjective was to manufacture quality products competitively. In the formative years Mr. Mahendra visited various countries researching and building valuable contacts. Handful of newly graduated young man with talent and commitment joined the company and began their careers on hundred rupees a month wage.
In the first decade his organization created the designs for production and garnered the experience to a range across the complete industrial plants & equipment spectrum.
In the next ten years they diversified into design and manufacture of Aluminum and steel windows, doors, furniture, hardware and fittings.

On a personal level Dr. Prof. Balram Mahendra's achievements are many including international man of the year for 1999/2000. Other awards include: 21st Century Award for Achievement, Member of advisory Council, International Biographical Centre Cambridge England. International Trophy, Grand Prix for Technology Duesseldorf, Germany, the arch of Europe Gold Star Award, Madrid Spain, International Trophy for technology & quality Geneva Switzerland. Distinguished Alumni Award Silver Jubilee Award 1978, Diamond Jubilee Award 2003 from Indian Institute of Metals, Vija Ratna, Yuva Ratna, Rashtriya Ratna, Vidas Jyoti and many many more.
He is the co chairperson of Bharat Nirman Build India, Patron Broadcasters Club of India, and former Member of The Indian Economic Mission, Chairperson U.S. Management Association, Professor Manipal Institute of technology, and T.A. Pal Management Institute. President of Tower Club and the list goes on.
At a meeting in Forest Lake Dr. Mahendra told Brisbane Indian times that he is exploring business opportunities in Australia. He has had various meeting with community leaders and businessmen in Brisbane. Mahendra International Inc, Delhi India assisted a Gold Coast resident Anna Bonshek with her exhibition in India.
Anna is a Vedic scholar and is very conversant in Sanskrit. She has written many books on the Vedas and is inspired by the works of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
She has a vision to create a Vedic village in Australia based on Vastu Shastra.
Anna has resided in a house within a complete village complex designed on Vuastu Shastra in America and has noted the vast difference in the quality of life.
Story of Prof. Balram mahendra
Balram mahendra started off serving the clients with the knowledge, experience and sincerity to provide engineering services in the industry and commerce and enable the clients to make more money and a higher quality of product with less cost through creativity engineering.
General Business Objective has been to make and sell quality products competitively, and to perform these functions at the lowest attainable cost consistent with the sound management policies, so as to return an adequate profit after taxes for services rendered. As a corollary objective the producer must be the low-cost producer of the products it offers for sale. The thrill and challenge enjoyed by fresh from the college unemployed engineer over 50 years ago is still what we are always willing to get involved with.
An old friend, observing with not a little amusement, the educated unemployed metallurgical engineer having no business experience, gave us the first order. Perhaps he liked the name mecanico coined & originated by us. A well wisher rented us a small office accommodation with lot of hydrated lime dust all around - a good face powder.
A lofty optimism ruled the day but our ambition, while vast, was wholly untempered by experience. Perhaps it was just as well. We plunged in where the angels would have stepped back hastily.
The post war era was soon upon them. Brave new words had entered the language. Clearly one had to seize the future. Dr. Mahendra emptied the corporate bank account and set off on an odyssey of the west.
Dr. Balram K. Mahendra Ph. D. flew from one city to another visiting some 139 cities in the U. S. A., Canada, Mexico, U K, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Lebanon, Kuwait, Greece and Egypt. It was nearly as difficult as getting away with the Crown Jewels.
For 24 weeks Mr. Mahendra cooled his heels in a winter of record breaking severity. With 36 cms. of snowfall in New York, being locked for 3 days in hotel Waldorf Astoria, not able to move out on account of snow blockade, was an experience. Dr. Mahendra returned laden with useful contacts. The rest of the organsiation received him, took one look at his shopping bag and grinned.
A few intrepid souls had cast their lot with Dr. Mahendra in those early years. Talented men . . . wholly committed to thier organisation. Ready to begin their careers on a hundred rupees a month. They have guided the company through over fifty years and three decisive phases.
Dr. Mahendra has been member of Indian Economic Mission sponsored by the Government of India. He has been invited by the Governments of U. S. A., Belgium and Italy. He has been United Nation Fellow in Africa. Dr Mahendra has been Honorary Secretary of Indian Institute of Metals Delhi Chapter for seven years from the very inception and received award from Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Government of India with citation for having founded several metallurgical and engineering firms.
Dr. Mahendra reported on the establishment of Aluminium Industry in Central India at a cost of over Rs. 230 million (U.S. Dollars 32 million) and projected integrated Pulp and Paper Project to manufacturer 18, 000 tonnes of Writing and Printing Paper at a cost of Rs. 70 million (U.S. Dollars 9 million).
Dr. Mahendra is undertaking new projects to manufacture various products in India and abroad. In the first decade thier organization created the designs for production and garnered the experience to range across the entire spectrum of complete Industrial Plants and Equipment for the fast expanding industries.
In the next ten years they diversified into design and manufacture of Aluminium and Steel Windows and Doors, Furniture, Hardware and Fittings and other Architectural Requisites.
