.bio is a proposed TLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. Starting Dot, a French-based start-up registry company is the only applicant. The string is intended for business entities engaged in the organic food and agricultural industry. Starting Dot also plans to open the registration for .bio domain names to consumers who are interested and committed in supporting the organic movement.[1] [2]
