.cars is a new generic top level domain name (gTLD) proposed to the New gTLD Program of ICANN.
Applicants
There are three companies seeking ICANN's approval for the delegation of the .cars gTLD in the root zone of the internet domain name system (DNS) and to serve as registry operator. The applicants inlude: [1]
- Koko Castle, LLC, this is one of the companies formed by Donuts to submit its application for the string. Donuts is a start-up registry operator backed by large investors and applied for 307 new gTLDs. [2]
- Uniregistry, Corp.- a new company established by Frank Schilling, one of the largest domain name portfolio owner. The company filed applications for 54 new gTLDs. [3]
- DERCars, LLC- the contact person for the company is Guy R. Friddell III.
