Career Background
Before joining the company, Alvarez served as Senior International Business Associate at Perkins Coie LLP, a law firm with offices in different parts of the United States and Asia, ranked 59 in the 2011 American Lawyers. During his tenure at the law firm, he assisted in incorporating Donuts. Since 2007, he represented clients from the domain industry on corporate governance and financing issues.[2]
Prior to his career at Perkins Coie LLP, Alvarez worked with the law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP for one year. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as Web Developer for Internet2, a non-profit advanced networking consortium dedicated to developing new technologies such as middleware, security, network research and performance measurement capabilities that are significant in the growth of internet applications.[3]
Education
Alvarez received his Juris Degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2002. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree with majors in Foreign Service and Information Warfare from Georgetown University, Washington, DC in 1999. He also attended the University of Paris in 2001 as Erasmus scholar. He studied economics and wars at the University of London, London School & King's College and at the University of Havana, Cuba respectively. Alvarez is admitted in the State Bars of California and Washington (inactive).[4] [5] He speaks Spanish and French.
