Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARNet) is the registry operator for the .hr ccTLD for Croatia. It was formed in 1993, and has managed the ccTLD since its very beginning.[1] The University Computing Center of University of Zagreb was commissioned to administratively and technically support the registry until 2010, when CARNet took over most of the work.[1]

Only .com.hr domain names can be registered by foreign entities.[2] CARNet offers free .hr domains to Croatian business entities and resident individuals engaged in business, and free from.hr domains to Croatian residents.
