Croatian Academic Research and Network, or CARNet, is the organization which manages the .hr ccTLD for Croatia. It was formed in 1993, and has managed the ccTLD since its very beginning.[1] The University Computing Center of University of Zagreb was commissioned to administratively and technically support Registry until 2010, when CARNet took over most of the work.[1]

Only .com.hr domain names can be registered by foreign entities. The registration of the first .hr domain is free for Croatian legal entities, while other domains require payment.[1]
