DomainsBot was launched in 1999 by Daniel Ruzzini Meija and Max Ralli when they were still university students. In 2004 it began to integrate the semantic search engine, which it is know well-known for, and in 2008 Sedo invested in the venture.[4]

Their semantic search technology works with multi-language name proposition software and other domain analysis systems.[5] They offer supplementary services such as as a typo generator, which determines possible targets for cybersquatters, and graphic brainstorming tools, among others.[6]
In 2010 DomainsBot domain suggestion was responsible for more than 600,000 domain registrations.[7]
