Konstantinos Komaitis is a Senior Lecturer of IT&T Law at the University of Strathclyde.[1] He teaches about Internet law, trademarks, and domain names.

Industry Involvement

Mr. Komaitis has been a member of ICANN's NCUC since 2005; and he is the current chair of the constituency, with a tenure set for Jan. 2011 to Jan. 2012.[2] He has also been involved in other special working groups and bodies; he was a member of the 2009 -2010 Special Trademark Issues Team, Working Group on Recommendation 6, and the Policy Process Steering Committee; he has also worked on the Post-Delegation Dispute Resolution Policy and the Registrar Accreditation Agreement. His work with the NCUC and his interests in the UDRP and trademark issues allowed him to help draft the Trademark Clearinghouse and the Uniform Rapid Suspension System.[3]

He is a member of ISOC.[4]

Prof. Komaitis is the former chair of GigaNet, an academic network interested in Internet governance. He continues to serve as a panelist for the Czech Arbitration Forum, which is the responsible legal body for all .eu domains involved in the UDRP.[5]

Publications

Konstantinos Komaitis is the author of the book, "The Current State of Domain Name Regulation: Domain names as second-class citizens in a mark-dominated world", which originally stemmed from his doctoral thesis topic.[6]
