Maarten Botterman is Director of GNKS Consult BV[1] and was appointed by NomCom to join the ICANN Board at the AGM in Hyderabad, 2016. He was reappointed for a second term on the ICANN Board by the NomCom at ICANN66, the AGM in Montréal, 2019. [2]. From 2010 to 2016, Botterman was Chairman of the Public Interest Registry and has been a board member since 2008.[3] PIR is the non-profit GTLD responsible for managing the .org and the .ngo/.ong domain and five IDN variants of .org.
