Marilia Maciel is the Researcher and Coordinator of the Center for Technology and Society of FGV Law School (Getulio Vargas Foundation) in Rio de Janeiro, where she also taught several courses on topics like Intellectual Property Law, LLM Litigation, and Cultural Management. Since 2007, she has been the manager of the project Wikipedia and Diplomacy, developed by DiploFoundation, where she also is a lecturer and tutor of courses on Internet Governance and E-diplomacy.[1][2]

She is currently a member of the Advisory Board on Internet security, created under the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee. She was previously a member of the Working Group on IGF improvements from 2011 to 2012, as well as a representative of CTS / FGV in meetings of the Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) of the World Intellectual Property Organization from 2008-2010.
