Sarah Deutsch is the Vice President & Associate General Counsel at Verizon Communications. She deals with legal issues related to global Internet policy, including liability, privacy, intellectual property policy, spam, spyware and Internet jurisdiction.

Sarah was involved in several high profile cases at Verizon, including RIAA vs Verizon[1] and Verizon's Cybersquatting Lawsuit in which Verizon was awarded more than $33 million.[2] In an interview with Groklaw, Sarah discusses the details of the RIAA vs Verizon case.[3] In an interview to Cnet.com she details Verizon's copyright campaign.[4]

Sarah is a member of the Executive Committe of the ICANN GNSO's Business Constituency 2010 [5] and has attended the Commercial and Business Users Constituency (BC) at ICANN Cartagena De Indias.[6] She has also attended the Whois Workshop at ICANN Montreal.

Sarah was a Private Sector Advisor to the U.S. Delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization 1996 Conference on the WIPO Copyright Treaties.[7] She was also involved with the passage of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act(DMCA).

Sarah has attended the OECD Digital Content Conference in 2006.[8]

Previously, Sarah was the Vice President & Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon).
