Dr. Carp dedicated his life in the museum sector since 1960s. He became a curator of musical instrument collections at the Music Museum in Stockholm in 1973 and later became the Deputy Director of the museum for 10 years. In 1990, he became Director of the Department of Information Technology of the Swedish Museum of Natural History and currently holds the position of Director of Internet Strategy and Technology of the museum. Carp has been instrumental in increasing the visibility of the museum community worldwide through the internet. As President of MuseDoma, he currently manages the Museum Network Information Center (MUSENIC) Project in Europe. For more than 30 years, Carp spent his professional career and continuously taking leadership roles representing the museum sector in International committees and organizations dedicated in conservation, musical instruments and documentation.
