.com is one of the first generic top level domain name (gTLD) of the Internet Domain Name System (DNS). Verisign is the registry operator of the .com gTLD since 2006.[1]
History
In 1985, the working group led by Jon Postel implemented the first set of top level domain in the Domain Name System which include .com (commercial), .gov (government), .edu (education), .mil (military) and .org (organization).[2]
