Nii Narku Quaynor is a former ICANN Board Director, a Member of the Internet Governance Forum Advisory Group at the United Nations, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at National Information Technology Agency. Quaynor is also a Member of the Internet Society of Ghana, Convener of the African Network Operators Group,[1] was the Founding Chairman of AfriNIC,[2] and was previously an Executive Chairman at AfTLD.[3] He had also served as the Chairman of Network Computer Systems.[4]
Mr. Quaynor is the Chairman of Ghana Dot Com LTD, a position he has held since 2007.[5]
Quaynor is not a contender for .africa, and is the administrative contact for a technical forum on dotAfrica gTLD at DotAfrica.org.[6]
ICANN
Dr. Quaynor was elected as the At-Large Director of the African region to the ICANN Board. He was elected in October 2000, and served until June, 2003.[7]
Jon Postel Award
Dr. Quaynor received the Jonathan B. Postel Service Award in 2007.[8]
Career History
Dr. Quaynor has played a significant role in the development of the Internet and telecommunications industry in Africa. He has the credit of establishing the Computer Science Department at the University of Cape-Cost in Ghana.[9]
In 1993, Dr. Quaynor returned to Ghana after studying and pioneered the first Internet service operated by NCS in West Africa.[10]
During his stay in the U.S, he worked with the the Digital Equipment Corporation in the United States, from 1977 to 1992.
Dr. Quaynor taught at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy and China.[11]

Education
He holds a B.A in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College, Bachelors of Engineering from Thayer School of Engineering and M.S and Ph.D in Computer Science from the State University of New York At StonyBrook.[14]
Controversy
DotConnectAfrica has been a vocal critic of Quaynor's dealings with DotAfrica, citing conflicts of interest and abuse of power however DCA has criticized everyone who talked about dotAfrica including Ministers of State, members of technical community including Quaynor who is not a bidder but is a member of AUC dotAfrica task force and the author's claims of having AUC letters of support to DCA have proven untrue and the aggrieved author is upset with AUC involvement in dotafrica gTLD.[15]
