The existence of various country codes developed by different organizations can be confusing if you exchange goods or information in our ever more integrated world. To make sure that communication works you need an accepted, up-to-date country code standard.

ISO 3166 is this commonly accepted International Standard and the ISO 3166/MA has been updating it since 1974.

Utillizing the ISO3166-1 list of two character codes to identify countries. This list is used as a reference to countries in the DNS-System, such as .US for United States, .CN for China, .AU for Australia, or .FR for France.
