Izumi Aizu
Currently serving AtLarge Advisory Committee (ALAC) from Asia Pacific region.
Izumi Aizu, born in 1952, promoting the computer networking since mid '80s.
Izumi has been involved with ICANN and so-called "Internet Governance" since around 1996. He was a local host member of IFWP meeting in Singapore in 1997 when we was the Secretary General of Asia Pacific Internet Associatoin (APIA). He became a member of the Membership Advisory Committee (MAC) in 1998 which gave the first recommendation to create AtLarge. He was nominated by the Board as the "interim" member of ALAC.
He is Deputy Director, Institute for HyperNetwork Society, a non-profit public foundation, dedicated to the research on social issues of network society, Senior Research Fellow at Institute for InfoSocionomics, Tama University, Japan.
In August 2004 he co-found Internet Governance Task Force of Japan to engage in the international debate on Internet Governance at the WSIS Working Group on Internet Governance set by the United Nations.
His research and advocacy focus is the effective and proper use of the Internet in society, including policy and strategic issues, based on the end-user's viewpoint and value.
