  • I came onto the ALAC through the Nomcom process and served for two years, 2004-2006, representing North America. I attended ICANN meetings in Cape Town, Mar del Plata, Luxembourg, Vancouver, Wellington, and Marrakech. While I was involved with ALAC I innovated online voting using the web facilities donated by Vote-now. In addition, I started the independent ICANNALAC.org website and ran it until my term ended.

I live in upstate New York, but I always brought a Vancouver, Canada resident with me to each meeting. Monty Moose registered for every conference except Luxembourg. (As you can see, Monty became such an ICANN fixture that he also has his own ICANNWiki page!) I collected photos of Monty doing interesting things and after every conference, wrote a booklet about Monty's trip for the Canadian second-graders. Subsequently, I shipped him home and later the booklets, the travel trinkets, and Monty himself went home with each child to be shared with his or her parents. I am sure that for many of them, this was the first time they had ever heard of ICANN and its activities. By the way, Monty has his very own website.

I am not affiliated with any At-Large Structure, and as NARALO is under construction I am testing the waters of RALO participation as an independent individual.
