Teri Darrenougue
Teri and Laura Brewer began scribing the ICANN meetings in March 2002. Although people often think that the real-time transcription that is projected at the meetings is done via voice recognition, it is actually Teri and Laura typing away on their steno machines. It is faster than typing on a regular keyboard because word parts, whole words, or phrases translate with each of their keystrokes. As long as the computer finds a match for the steno stroke, it translates immediately into English text.
