I am from Papua New Guinea (PNG), an island country in the Pacific situated north of Australia. I learned about ICANN, APNIC and ISOC 10 years ago when I was working with Taiwanese not for profit organization; APEC Digital Opportunity Center (APECDOC) in Taipei, an APEC initiative to bride digital divide in APEC member economies. Before that, I worked with our local ccTLD (.pg) operator, PNG University of Technology. Through my participation in Pacific Islands Chapter of Internet Society, I became an ICANN Fellow in 2008 at New Delhi meeting, and was an alumnus since, attending four ICANN meetings to date including recentICANN56 Policy Forum in Helsinki.

I am also part of ISOC’s next generation leaders (NGL) program since 2010 and attended Nairobi IGF in 2011 as an IGF Ambassador; and still active in ISOC programs. Member of Diplo Foundation after completion my study in ICT Policy Development and Strategy Implementation since 2011. Involves with APNIC thru APNIC Blogs as opinion writer; and involves as well with other local and regional organizations.

Currently I am serving as Interim Chair Internet PNG Clique (iPNGC); a local internet users’ society in PNG which I have founded since 2011.We discus with members and disseminate information thru mailing list, Facebook page and website, on IG issues, opportunities, ICANN programs, and other internet technology and policy related subjects. In addition to my background, my experiences in ICANN, besides meetings have been thru RFC responses, fellowship program documents development and reviews as well as other ICANN programs/projects requiring individual/community input. My memorable ICANN experience was when I involved in the launching IDNs at Seoul meeting in 2009.

I hold Master of Engineering (Innovation Management) from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand; and Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic Communication) from PNG University of Technology, Papua New Guinea. My interest concerning ICANN and other i-organizations is ICT4D, especially addressing IG issues in my country and region. Education and awareness on IG issues are very low and that is my challenge as a member of ICANN community to reach out and engage internet users either as an individual or as organizations; for them to understand IG issues against technology and policy standards. So that they can make informed judgments and contribute meaningfully. That’s why I have special interest in the programs and events of APRALO and other regional internet organizations.
